Choosing a Preschool

This is one of the most common questions we get on tours, especially since our program is full immersion.

Children do not need to speak the language before starting. Most don’t.

The classroom is fully in the target language. Teachers don’t translate word-for-word. They use gestures, visuals, tone, and repetition so children can follow along and understand what’s happening.

Language is part of the entire day — play, songs, snack, transitions, and group activities. It’s not taught like a lesson.

At the beginning, it’s normal for children to observe more. They watch, listen, and follow routines. Within a short time, most begin to understand simple directions and participate comfortably.

We see this happen in every classroom. Children start to understand first, then begin using words and phrases when they’re ready.

You don’t need prior exposure to the language. That’s the most common starting point.

That said, our goal is always to support the child. In moments where a child needs extra reassurance or support, teachers may use English briefly. This is not the norm, but it can be helpful during transitions or if a child is having a hard moment.

Very quickly, children begin to understand the routine and what’s expected. As their comfort grows, so does their understanding of the language.

The balance is maintaining a strong immersion environment while making sure each child feels safe and supported.

Even though our classrooms are in another language, children are still building strong overall language and communication skills every day. They understand routines, concepts, and how to express themselves.

It’s also important to remember that the world around them is in English. Outside of the classroom, children are hearing and using English all the time. They often speak to each other in English, even while teachers maintain the immersion environment in the classroom.

Children who go through immersion programs develop strong listening skills, confidence, and flexibility in how they learn. Those skills transfer easily into English-speaking classrooms.
We consistently see children transition well socially and academically. They adjust quickly and are comfortable participating in a new environment.

Language immersion at an early age does not hold children back in English. In many cases, it strengthens their overall communication and learning.

All of our locations go outside every day.

While not every location has a traditional playground on-site, outdoor time is still a very important part of the day and of children’s development.

We use outdoor spaces intentionally. Teachers bring materials like balls, chalk, and other equipment and plan activities that are developmentally appropriate for the group.

This allows for a mix of:

• open play
• movement and gross motor development
• group games and social interaction

Not having a fixed playground structure also gives children the opportunity to use their imagination and engage in more creative play.

Outdoor time is structured enough to support development, but flexible enough to allow children to explore and move in ways that feel natural to them.
