UPR Bayamón and CommuniKids Launch New U.S. Internship Partnership for Future Educators
The University of Puerto Rico at Bayamón (UPRB) has launched a new international internship partnership with CommuniKids, a multilingual early childhood education organization based in Washington, D.C. Beginning in 2026, select students from UPRB’s Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Adapted/Regular Physical Education programs will complete hands-on learning experiences in CommuniKids’ multicultural, multilingual classrooms.
This initiative aims to strengthen students’ pedagogical, linguistic, and cultural preparation by providing real-world teaching opportunities in diverse learning environments.
Chancellor Dr. Miguel Vélez Rubio emphasized the importance of the collaboration:
“This experience offers significant academic and professional growth, allowing our students to learn new methodologies and deepen their understanding of multilingual education.”
CommuniKids President and CEO Raúl Echevarría highlighted the shared mission behind the partnership:
“Together, we are preparing exceptional educators who are ready to inspire the next generation in multilingual and multicultural settings.”
The first cohort will be selected based on academic and eligibility criteria established by both institutions. The program will continue to expand in future phases to include additional students and faculty participation.
